Tawny Owl rescue in Sand Point car park

Whilst on Sand Point this morning I spoke to one of the dog walkers who asked if I had seen the owl in the car park. Not having seen it I quickly made my way to the car park and soon found a Tawny Owl high up in a tree with its outer primaries trapped in the string of a kite. The bird looked impossible to get to so I decided to call Secret World. Following that I recieved a call from the fire brigade who were on their way. Not long after that Secret World phoned who were also enroute.

It didn't take long for the Fire Brigade to get on site but they had a problem with their revolving ladders and couldn't find any other way to get to the bird. After some calls, it was arranged for the Bristol Fire Brigade to come down and rescue the bird. During the wait, a small crowd was now gathering of concerned onlookers.

It was a relief to see the Bristol Fire Brigade turn up and it wasn't long before the Fire Engine was in place and transporting a fire fighter and the Secret World member up to the bird. The owl flapped around a lot during the ascent but was quickly captured and put in a box.

I have to give credit to the Fire Brigade for taking their time to come from both Weston and Bristol to rescue the bird, plus a big thanks to Secret World and the RSPCA who play a big part in rehabilitating the creatures that we love so much.
